In the 1800’s,
self-proclaimed doctors (often called “snake oil peddlers”)
would travel from town to town in a wagon full of funny-shaped
bottles, barking the virtues of their panacea product. The fact
is that oil from certain snakes actually worked at reducing joint
pain while other “miracle-cures” contained mostly
alcohol and induced a placebo effect at best.
The comparisons between music and snake oil are numerous. One
parallel is that music and snake oil produce the same results.
Lucas Maciel’s compositions may have an inebriating effect
and may smell funky, but they often taste delicious and will,
in fact, cure whatever ails your production … guaranteed.
Lucas Maciel
